The defending Junior World Champion is on a mission this year. After winning the rainbows last year at Mont Ste Anne, the Adelaide, Australia shredder has been getting faster race after race, culminating with his first World Cup podium in Val Di Sole this past weekend. Pinkbike caught up with Old Man Rivers in France as he prepared for World Championships with the Monster Energy Specialized team.

Never leave your camera lying around when T-Roy is lurking. At least he knows where the focus button is now! Self Portrait time. |

Brosnan was a blur every time he got on his bike this season. World Championships is right around the corner, and instead of the dirty white leader's jersey, Brosnan will wear a set of rainbows as he defends his title. |

As serious as a heart attack when he's on a race track. The little man conquered some of the biggest tracks on the circuit, Val Di Sole and Mont Ste Anne. Bigger isn't always better... |
 | "There's been a couple of tracks like Ft William and Val di Sole and Mont Ste Anne where big is better but... there's been a fair few little dudes going fast this year...It's whoever has the most determination and whoever is going to lay it down on the day, whoever wants it the most really. It doesn't matter how big you are or how small you are." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized |
 |
First race after winning a set of rainbows can be a bit stressful. Brosnan tackled Africa with a smile on his face. A few days before, the team found some local tracks to break in the new bikes on. |
 | "It's good to see all sides of the World and witness it... We go to some wild hotels and eat bread and cheese and maybe a little bit of ham if you're lucky for breakfast...This is my school really." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized |
 |
First year away from home and the junior shredder has no problem making dinner for the entire Monster Specialized team. |
 |
Brosnan is a pretty versatile rider for a second year junior. Here he shreds some local jumps in California, his home away from home on the downtime between races. Look for him to be putting down the fastest lap times at a go kart track near you. |

Monster 30 is serious business. |

Brendan and Troy get along like a house on fire. To the point that they pulled over to tackle the A Line downhill race at Crankworx side by side to stoke out the fans. Life with Bernard is always interesting. Welcome to his world. |
 | "Life with Brendan is interesting! You don't know what's happening, but everything does happen. You're in Brendan's world... There's always new and exciting things to do." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized |

Troy Brosnan gets the movies going while his mechanic and team comedian, driver, handyman and pit boss, Jacy Shumilak, looks on. |
 |
The man that keeps things running around Monster Energy Specialized is, arguably, Jacy. If it's mechanical, he has his fingers in it, from the bikes to the RV to wiring lights. |

Troy and his dad celebrate an extremely close World Championships victory at Mont Ste Anne in 2010. Mom got held back by security and was none too happy about it. |
 | "Another set of rainbows would be cool... Last race of the year, might as well go out with a bang I guess!" - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized |
 |
The story of the year. 6th in Windham, 4th in Val Di Sole. Big things to come for this guy. One more race to go this year. Are another set of rainbows in the cards? Good luck, Rivers! |
 | "I want to thank Mom & Dad for letting me come out and travel for 6 months out of the year and them not seeing me too much. Definitely Sean and Jacy for running this pretty sick team as well as Brendan and Sam for helping me out my first year juniors and helping me out this year. It's been amazing. I couldn't have done it without the whole bunch." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized |
Pinkbike would like to thank Troy for taking the time out of his World's preparations to talk to us. It's all business for Brosnan for the next week and we wish him the best of luck in defending his rainbow stripes next weekend in Champery, Switzerland.
